Word Study
HOMEWORK:

You must choose three of these to complete each week:

1. Find words that have base words and underline the base word
2. Break words into syllables and underline the accented syllables
3. Make applicable words plural or add -ed or -ing
4. Circle or underline any prefixes/suffixes you find on the word lists
5. Add a prefix/suffix to words on a list (those applicable)
6. Sort words by parts of speech or subject area and record the sort
7. Collect 10 words from readings, then write the word, followed by the sentence in which it was used, the book it came from and a page #
8. Words that Grow from Base Words and Word Roots: using a drawing of a tree, students put a base word or word root at the bottom. Write as many different forms on the individual branches – do this for at least 5 words
9. Make a concept map of 3 words (see example below)
10. Give a synonym and antonym for each word
